Do Your Skin Care Products Tend to Pill?

Learn 2 simple rules to follow to flawless skin.

I love a great cocktail to kick off the weekend, celebrate with friends, or wind down after work. So when it comes to taking care of my skin, of course I love to mix a great product cocktail there as well! Mixing and matching different formulas gives me the freedom to customize a regimen that targets all of my particular conditions (dry skin, ruddy complexion, and milia around the chin and mouth.) Sounds like a simple plan, but up until very recently my favorite skin-care cocktail created an unsightly mess when primer and foundation were added into the morning mix!

Ladies, what I’m talking about is “pilling” otherwise known as those icky glue-like balls that form on the surface of the skin. They are caused by excess product not fully absorbed by the skin. This prevents primer or foundation from adhering and when makeup is applied, you get what can only be described as a hot mess!

Determined to keep my beloved skin care cocktail and have a flawless makeup application, I searched for answers in the blogs of top dermatologists and product junkies. To prevent pilling and get the most out of your skin care routine, all the experts agree on these two simple rules:

1. Apply your skin care products in the correct order. This maximizes the effectiveness of active ingredients and helps each product to absorb into the skin.

2. Don’t over-apply your products; a pea sized amount is all you need. Less is more when it comes to preventing pilling.

Now, go have a cocktail and show off that great skin!
