Freshen up your locks with the ombre effect!
A look I’m loving right now is the ombre hair color trend. Although some may think it’s a solely a summer look, I think that this trend will stick thru the fall. While it looks young, stylish, fresh, and fun, it’s still appropriate enough to wear in a professional setting. I’ve been noticing it on many different celebrities such as Jessica Biel, Drew Barrymore, Lily Aldridge, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Rachel Bilson to name a few. It’s the perfect cute surfer girl look, and is easy to achieve for anyone who has dark roots that are growing out a blonde dye job. One of my brunette friends actually did it herself at home, by adding bleach to the bottom of her hair and then wrapping it in foil upwards to the mid-shaft of her hair. If you aren’t feeling daring to try it yourself, go to your stylist and tell her you want to go about 2-4 shades lighter at the ends of your hair to achieve the look properly. What’s important about this look is that you want it to look like it’s blended naturally; the goal isn’t to be two-toned.
Ombre hair is defined as hair color fading from dark to light, or vice-versa, but in a gradual sense. You want the appearance of sun-kissed looking tips, as if you had spent the entire summer at the beach, perhaps with a hat on your head which protected your roots from the lightening of the sun. This trend is very easy; you can wear it for a long time without having to get touch-ups at the salon, and is inexpensive. What’s great about it, is that you can get it done once, and then it will only get lighter on its own from the sun, allowing it to look even more natural. Then, highlights from the sun will blend the two tones together as well, which will producer a greater effect. This look will look best on brunettes, because they won’t have issues when their roots grow in and it will look genuine. So, if you’re looking to freshen up your locks with a new look, try this one out!
