From the time I had my first makeup lesson I was taught one simple rule…emphasize one feature at a time. That’s what makes Bobbi Brown’s new Neons and Nudes Collection so perfect. She pairs soft neutrals with bright, bold neon shades for a flattering, fool proof way to embrace one of the season’s hottest looks. In fact, the Jason Wu, Emanuel Ungaro, and Christian Dior Spring 2012 runway shows all showcased bright, bold makeup colors as one of spring’s hottest beauty trends.

To keep this look fresh (and avoid any of those unintentional bad 80’s references) keep this advice in mind:  Bobbi Brown believes “the most modern way to wear bright color is as an accent on an otherwise neutral face”; making the Ultra Nude Eye Palette the perfect place to start. If you’re new to Bobbi Brown, you must know she made a name for herself creating the flawless “no-makeup” makeup look with her perfect nude hues. Thus, this palette does not disappoint: It features six flattering shades in both shimmery and matte textures that will work for fair, medium, and dark skin tones.

Once you’ve created a natural-neutral eye, it’s time have some fun with color on the lips. The new Neons and Nudes Collection features two options for lips. If you’re in the mood for gloss you can choose one of the sheer and super shiny lip glosses in Citrus: a neon orange, Cosmic Pink: a neon pink, and Ultra Violet: a lavender hued bright pink. On the other hand, if you want a more matte lip then pick from Atomic Orange or my favorite the fuscia colored Neon Pink.

If you want to mix things up – remember the rule is to emphasize one feature at a time – you can flip this look and go bold on the eyes and neutral on the lips. Choose the new Uber Beige lipstick for a soft natural lip and get bold on the eyes with the Ultra Violet Shimmer Wash (great for baby blues) or the matte Bluebell Eye Shadow (ideal for brown eyed girls). Both create a sheer wash of color that makes eyes pop for a striking and playful look.

FYI…these glosses, lipsticks, and eye shadows look super bright and a little daunting in the packaging but don’t let that scare you away. Each shade comes forth in a sheer wash of color that makes eyes or lips pop for a stunning look, perfect for warm and sunny weather.

Simply pair your bright bold look with a neutral pink or peach cheek and you’ll be looking fashionable and fabulous for spring!
