What’s on Trend? Fall staples that will make you glad to see the back of summer!
Not quite willing to put away those cute strappy sandals and playsuits just yet? Well, neither am I. But with fall around the corner we may soon have to bid bare legs adieu. Still, it isn’t all gloom and doom – layering is très fun, and especially for someone who insists on throwing on outerwear even in 100 degree heat, the chill will definitely prove to be a welcome reprieve!
(Plus, there’s the perk of not having to shave your legs that often again. Oh it’s just me? Well, then.)
Whether or not you’re a fan of chilly weather, here are some wardrobe additions to make a smooth and seamless transition into fall:
- Get dotty.
Polka dots are big this fall (Stella McCartney etc.), but I’ll go ahead and make a broader interpretation of this by proposing that patterns in general be the in thing. And especially if you want to wear patterns with an edgier spin, Patternity tights are to die for. At £42 a pop, it ain’t cheap, but I guarantee you’ll feel a million bucks strutting down the street with these. (And hurry! They’ve just been restocked.) - Suit up!
Androgyny continues to be a major theme – tuxes and men’s silhouettes are currently ruling the runways. For the girly girls among us, you can still inject masculinity into your outfits without hiding your curves – by wearing it on your feet. Alexander Wang’s Jules in particular catches the eye with its sleek suede version of a flat oxford. Alternatively, channel kick-ass spirit with some classic Doc Martens. Don’t settle for the boring blacks – try out this gorgeous 1461 modern classic in mint pearl leather. Pair a floral dress with these shoes for an extra edge and the boys will know they can’t mess with you! - Dress down
It’s time to break out the maxi dresses, if you haven’t already done. I love Nasty Gal’s version – cheeky and fun, this Twisted Maxi Dress covers the important bits while exposing a little midriff: the place to bare for the moment! - Color staple
You can’t do without the rich sienna brown hue this season. And if you are shopping around for a coat, this ASOS Coat with Double Lapel is gorgeous and figure-flattering with adorable details.
