Argan Oil Body Essentials

Argan Oil ProductsIt could be called the breakout star of the beauty industry: Argan oil, a powerhouse loaded with vitamin E and essential fatty acids, has fast become the favored key ingredient for everything from hair treatments to eye moisturizers to body butters.

The rich substance is extracted from the Moroccan argan tree nut and is known for its incredible benefits. As a skin and body care ingredient, its high antioxidant content makes it an anti-aging threat that effectively neutralizes free radicals, smoothes fine lines, and softens the skin. One of the most potent moisturizers available, argan oil also calms distressed skin and may have some long-term effect on visible scarring and hyperpigmentation.

With so many argan-rich products on the market today, weeding through them all to find the true champions seemed like a real challenge. My dry, sensitive skin always begs for moisture, so these are the standouts that passed my rigorous testing with flying colors.

Kiehl’s Since 1851 Superbly Restorative Argan Dry Oil is a dream for parched skin. In addition to a heavy concentration of argan oil, it also contains olive fruit and apricot kernel oils, both of which are exceptionally nourishing. Most importantly, this concoction is gentle. As I smoothed it over a spot of eczema, I felt that familiar prickly sensation dissipate. With regular use, my skin felt silkier and more supple over time. Bonus: It smoothes flyaway strands in a pinch and smells pretty dreamy, too.

It may be formulated for wee ones, but anyone can benefit from an application of Shea Moisture Organic Raw Chamomile and Argan Oil Baby Healing Lotion. To call it “decadent” would be an understatement. A blend of renewing shea and cocoa butters, healing argan oil, and lightly scented frankincense and myrrh make it both protective and indulgent.

There’s something so anticipatory about taking a shower with a brand new product. That’s how I felt when I first lathered up with the Crabtree and Evelyn Pomegranate, Argan and Grapeseed Bath and Shower Gel. Rich in conditioning oils, it contains a hearty helping of pomegranate and is finished with a kiss of citrus for a fresh, fruity blend that is absolutely intoxicating.

To reap their best results, moisturizers should be applied post-shower or bath when the skin is still slightly damp. As you lock in the moisture, you’re also massaging pure, natural goodness into your skin and leaving it velvety soft. Breakout star, indeed.
