A Blissful Oasis

Sesen SpaABOUT

Tucked away deep in the heart of Vienna, Sesen Spa is an established oasis renowned for its selection of pampering nail services. Also on the menu: massages, body treatments, hair removal, facials and other skin care rituals, all practiced with rigid attention to health and safety.

AMBIENCE

Blissfully peaceful, Sesen Spa is located on historic Church Street in downtown Vienna. You’ll spot a cascading waterfall almost as soon as you step inside – a little taste of the tranquility within. At the heart of the establishment is a simple square check-in, which is surrounded by a row of pedicure chairs and manicure tables, and rejuvenating beauty products from brands like Yon-Ka Paris and Jane Iredale (You can even get your fashion fix on with a selection of affordable Big Buddha handbags.) With wide, uncovered windows that stretch the length of the main wall and wood tones splashed over the rest of the spa, owner Lisa Tep’s Asian heritage is immediately evident. From the glossy, cabernet-colored accents and crisp, modern furniture to the bamboo floors and serene lighting, no detail is left untouched.

EXPERIENCE

Tep, who has appeared on The Today Show and the FOX affiliate in Greenville, South Carolina to discuss nail health and safety, offers a steadfast commitment to sanitation at her spa. The pedicure thrones are pipe-free and sterilized after every service, and a new set of medical-grade, sterilized implements are used for each treatment. That alone was enough to entice me, but I was also drawn to the brilliant in-house nail colors, which, although somewhat limited in selection, still manage to cover nearly every wearable hue of the rainbow. I opted for the Mango Papaya manicure, which nail technician Claudia performed with incredible attention and expertise.

Sesen SpaAfter tending to my nails, she applied a mild sugar scrub to my hands and forearms. After that, a pampering massage with a thick, buttery moisturizer whose fruity scent lingered for hours; then, my hands were pressed in pleasantly warm, damp towels. Finally, the crowning glory: tips were painted to glossy perfection in a warm rose hue kissed with a hint of berry. Between Claudia’s gentle touch and the luxurious surroundings, this was a manicure to remember.

WALLET WATCH

The Mango Papaya manicure is $20; the pedicure is $36.
