Head to Pacific Place Mall for a piece of East Coast elegance

ABOUT

You could say Kate Spade kicked off the designer handbag craze when she launched her ubiquitous bags in 1993. Since then the designer has added shoes, clothing, jewelry, eyewear, wallets, beauty items, home goods and stationary to her crave worthy collection. Recently, Seattle’s chic Pacific Place Mall became home to Washington State’s first stand-alone Kate Spade store.

AMBIANCE

Punctuated with bold colors, the Kate Spade store invites visitors through to large grass green glass doors and into a preppy paradise. You’re greeted with candy colored striped walls and floors walls that are offset by plenty of brightly lit glass and white walls and display cases. The store feels decidedly feminine and the rainbow of accents colors from red tables to blue chairs are expertly used giving the store the feel of a perfectly appointed Upper East Side townhouse.

EXPEREINCE

Taking a look around Kate Spade’s new store might make you consider abandoning this fall’s 70’s revival trend in favor of ladylike elegance. Give Betty Draper a run for her money in any one of the clean lined coats, cashmere sweaters, structured skirts or shift dresses. You’ll also find structured handbags in animal prints and bold primary colors, three quarter length gloves in beautiful blues, plenty of sparkly broaches and bracelets and strands of oversized pearls. Then there is every woman’s weakness…the shoe wall. Near the back of the store you’ll see every peep toe, bootie and pump in Kate Spade’s oh-so-sophisticated style. Be sure to take in a beauty stop at the gold trimmed side table for a great selection of perfumes, brightly colored lipsticks and toiletry bags.

IN CROWD

WALLET WATCH

The huge selection of merchandise means anyone can take home a piece of Kate Spade. Try the lipsticks for $24 or toiletry bags for $60 and if you really want to indulge try the Westward Ingenue Clutch for $545 or red Luna dress for $395.
