The shade makes a splash on nails at New York Fashion Week
WHERE TO FIND
Think young, hip and fabulous city girls who work hard – and hit the town even harder.
TREND ALERT
Coral may have taken the beauty world by storm this summer, but the Old Hollywood trend is evolving into a more punchy version of the vibrant shade. Backstage at Wes Gordon’s Spring New York Fashion Week show, lead CND manicurist Kristina Estabrooks painted on a nearly neon coral rendition, which was complemented by a long almond shape that conjured a retro sense of style. Teased ponytails and fresh-faced makeup highlighted by a tasteful touch of coral added to the 1960s Soho working girl vibe.
The designer said the beauty vision was, “sleek and civilized, but she might scratch your eyes out.”
We’ll take heed of that warning.
GET THE LOOK
Gently file your nails into a longer, rounded shape. Then apply base coat, two coats of CND Colour in Poppyfield, and a high shine topcoat to capture the fiercely feminine look.
Tie the shade into your makeup by blending a light pink-coral blush onto cheekbones and lids, and a muted coral lipstick dabbed onto lips with your ring finger for a soft focus effect. Hair looks best swept casually back from the face in a ponytail, to allow the stand out nails and effortless makeup to take center stage as you appear to glow from within. Pops of blue, coral, yellow and white – as seen in the Wes Gordon 2012 clothing collection – are great shades to inspire the perfect wardrobe color backdrop.
CND Nail Colour retails for $9 per bottle, and can be purchased at www.timetospa.com
